Guest guide
Everything you need to know to make the most of your stay at Chalet O'Ptit Ruisseau.
Getting here
The chalet is located at 1390 Route des Sept-Chutes, Sainte-Émélie-de-l'Énergie, QC J0K 2K0, directly on Route 131.
Arrival tips:
- The entrance is on a curve. As soon as your GPS shows 200m, slow down and signal right
- Look for the white "1390" sign at the parking entrance
- The entrance is narrow and unlit at night. Take it slow for the last 50 metres
In winter: Route 131 gets priority snow removal. No 4x4 needed, a regular car is fine! The parking is also plowed. Watch for ice in spring though, waterproof boots are recommended.
Self check-in
- Check-in: From 3:00 PM
- Check-out: Before 11:00 AM
- Access: Secure lockbox at the entrance. The code will be sent 24 hours before your stay.
- Tip: For the 2nd door (interior), pull the handle toward you while turning the key to release the latch.
What to bring
- Firewood for the indoor and outdoor fireplaces (not provided). Available at the Bonichoix grocery store (5 min) or at hardware stores (Canac, Patrick Morin, Rona) on your way.
- Laundry detergent if you plan to use the washer
- Waterproof boots in spring (snow melt)
- Plastic cups for around the hot tub (no real glass)
- Bug spray in summer
- Swimsuit and flip-flops for the hot tub
The hot tub
The private hot tub is available 4 seasons, 24/7.
- The hot tub is in Eco mode on arrival. Adjust the temperature as soon as you get there (ideal: 100-104°F)
- Shower before entering the hot tub
- Do not put any soap, oil or products in the water
- Replace the cover after each use (heat retention and safety)
- Limit sessions to 15-20 minutes. Stay hydrated.
- No glass (real glass) in or around the hot tub, plastic cups only
- Children must be supervised at all times
- Treatment sachets (oxy) are available in the box on the door leading to the hot tub
Fireplace and wood stove
The wood stove is at the heart of the chalet experience. Bring your own wood!
- Starting a fire: Use kindling and newspaper to get it going
- Air control: The rod with the gold handle under the door controls airflow. Left = more air (stronger fire), right = less air (slow down/extinguish)
- Fan: A motor at the back of the stove blows warm air into the chalet. Turn the small dial to adjust intensity
- Ashes: Empty the ashes the next morning once they're cold. There's a small bin for this purpose
- Never leave a fire unattended
- Outdoor fire pit: Check fire ban status (SOPFEU) before lighting a campfire
Good to know
- Open mezzanine bedrooms: The two bedrooms are located on the mezzanine, overlooking the living room. As with all A-frame chalets, the space is open-concept and sound carries between floors. Ideal for families, couples or close friends. Not recommended if you need full sound isolation between bedrooms.
- Day visitors: You're welcome to invite friends or family over during the day. No extra fee for non-overnight visitors.
House rules
- Capacity: Ideal for 4, maximum 6 guests. A $30/night fee applies for each guest from the 5th onward.
- Pets: Welcome! Keep them supervised and clean up after them. $50 fee applies.
- Noise: Respect the neighbourhood. No excessive noise after 10 PM.
